Teresa Demjanovich was the youngest of the seven children of Alexander and Johanna, Ruthenian immigrants from northeastern Slovakia at the end of XIX century. Teresa was born on March 26, 1901, and received the Holy Mysteries of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. She entered the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, in Covent Station, on February 11th, 1925. She took her final vows on April 2nd, 1927. She died on May 8, 1927 at 26 years of age. On October th, 2014, Venerable Miriam Teresa was declared Blessed at the Basilica Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark by Cardinal Angelo Amato, S.D.B., Prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
